Christmas Stocking Guessing Game

This game is fun for kids and adults and you really don't need to change anything to make it fun for everyone.

You will need:
  • An oversized Xmas stocking - Dollar stores sell nice ones.
  • A variety of holiday items. Ex: a roll of tape, a candle, an ornament, a xmas cookie cutter, a pine cone, etc.
  1. Fill the stocking with about 15-20 items or as many that will fill it but still make it possible for them to move around enough to be felt through the stocking. Tie a ribbon around the top to close it up so there is no peeking.
  2. If you play in teams, prepare identical stockings for each team.
  3. Give each team a filled stocking and pen and paper. Tell them how many objects are in the stocking and have them write down everything they feel.
  4. The team that guesses the most correct items wins.

You can also make up two or three stockings and give everyone pen and paper. Have the stockings work their way around the party as people mingle (This is good for adult parties). Once everyone has had a chance with a stocking read off the items to determine the winner.

Mitten Munch Relay

A Christmas party game that's as much fun for the adults to watch as it is for the kids to play.

You Will Need:

  • Mittens - A pair for each team
  • A big bag of Hershey Kisses
  1. Divide everyone into 3 or 4 teams.
  2. Have everyone line up on one side of the room.
  3. On GO the first person in line runs to the other end of the room where there is a pair of mittens and a pile of kisses.
  4. Players put on the mittens, then unwrap a kiss and eat it while taking off the mittens. They run back and the next person goes.

The first team to finish wins.

If you're playing this Christmas party game with young children use gloves instead of mittens to avoid frustration.

Christmas Word Scramble

This Christmas party game can be for any occasion. Just switch the words to match your occasion or theme.

You Will Need:

  • A poster board
  • Pen and paper for everyone playing
Make a list of things related to Christmas, or the winter holidays in general, then scramble the letters and list the scrambled words on a poster board.

Give each player a pencil and paper and give them 3 minutes to unscramble as many words as they can.

If you make 2 or 3 different lists you can play more than once.

Give a prize to the person who unscrambles the most words after each turn.

If you don't feel like coming up with this list all on your own, look here to find our printable Christmas Word Scramble.

Christmas Puzzle Relay

This is a fun Christmas party game, but make sure you use puzzles appropriate for your age group.

You will need:
  • Small Christmas jigsaw puzzles

Make sure all puzzle pieces are apart and nicely jumbled before starting.

On GO teams race to put together their puzzle. The first time with a completed puzzle wins.

Tip: The dollar store is a great place to buy puzzles. If you get enough for each guest to play on their own, let them take the puzzles home in their goody bags. It's an awesome party favor!

Christmas Word Find

You will need:
  • Pen and Paper for everyone
  • Poster board - Cut it in half or even thirds, and play more than once.

Take a Christmas related word or phrase such as: Christmas, Poinsettia, Candy Cane, Sleigh Bells Ringing, etc. and write it across your poster board, then put it where everyone can see it.

Have players come up with new words using only the letters found in your phrase.

Give a prize to whoever comes up with the most words.

ABC Christmas

You will need:
  • Pen and paper for everyone - index cards work well for this.
  1. Have all your guests make a list of Christmas words starting with the letter "A" and adding one word for every letter of the alphabet. 26 words total.
  2. The first person to get 26 words wins.
This Christmas party game can also be played in teams, timed or both.

Pass The Parcel

This Christmas party game is especially fun for little kids because it feeds their need to unwrap gifts. :)

You will need:
  • Enough small gifts for your guests. Christmas pencils, erasers, candy canes, party favors etc. I actually make up a goody bag for each child wrapped like a small gift.
  • Several boxes that can fit inside each other
  • Wrapping paper
  1. Before the party prepare your gift box for this game by wrapping the small gifts in a box and wrap it. Nest that box inside another and wrap again. Keep nesting and wrapping plenty of times so that each player has a good chance of getting an opportunity to unwrap a layer.
  2. Have players sit in a circle and start Christmas music. Have the players pass the parcel around the circle while the music plays.
  3. When the music stops the person holding the parcel unwraps a layer. This continues until the parcel is completely unwrapped to reveal the gifts inside.
If you don't have many boxes, and to make it a little easier on yourself, wrap 2 or three layers of different wrapping paper around one or two of your nested boxes and have players just remove one layer at a time.

Fill the Christmas Stocking

This party relay game is a lot of fun for anyone. For younger kids use bigger spoons.

You will need:

  • A Christmas stocking, a spoon, and a bowl for each team.
  • Bags of Christmas candy

  1. Divide your group into teams.
  2. Hang a stocking for each team on the opposite side of the room.
  3. Fill each bowl with an assortment of candy.
  4. On GO the first person on each team uses the spoon to pick up some candy and takes it to the stocking without dropping it. If the candy is dropped they must go back and get another. (Dropped candy must be picked up by another player and put back in the bowl. ) Really little kids can just pick up the dropped piece and keep going.
The first team to transfer their bowl of candy to their stocking wins.

Find Santa

Players can seek but they shouldn't speak as they search for a hidden Santa.

You'll Need:

A small Santa ornament or something with the image of Santa on it.
  1. With everyone out of the room, one player (most likely you Mom) places the object somewhere unexpected but in plain sight.
  2. The other players return and start searching. No one is allowed to speak.
  3. As players see the object they don't touch it, but instead sit down near it. Little kids will have to try hard not to give away the objects location by looking in its direction or giggling. This continues until the last person spots the object and grabs it.

There are no winners here. This is just a fun Christmas party game.

For very young players have a few rounds with the object in a pretty obvious place so they can play without getting frustrated.
