Crouton Recipe
Sweet or Savory

This crouton recipe can be used with any seasoning you like. My kids love croutons, but they aren't cheap and you don't get very much in a bag, so we make our own. Buttery garlic and sweet cinnamon happen to be our favorites.

bread
INGREDIENTS:

  • 12 slices or equivalent of 1 loaf of stale bread

  • 1/4 cup butter, melted

  • 2 teaspoons garlic salt or 1 teaspoon sugar / 1 teaspoon cinnamon blended

  • Preheat oven to 350

    1. Brush bread on both sides with melted butter. You might want to cut off the crust but I like to leave it on.

    2. Cut bread slices up into small cubes. Sprinkle with whichever seasoning you choose then arrange cubes on an ungreased cookie sheet.

    3. Bake for 15 minutes or until toasty brown.

At this point you can let them cool but I like to put them in a covered storage container while they're still warm and sprinkle with additional seasoning, then shake to cover them evenly.

To give your garlic croutons a special kick, add a few drops of hot sauce to the melted butter.
