Free Online Word GamesIn our house we use free online word games all the time. Word searches and scrabble are favorites with my 6th grader. I like games that test my knowledge of word meanings. Kids: Three pretty cool word games for older kids and even adults. Spelldown is particularly fun and challenging. Pitara: Very nice site for kids to use. Easy navigation and simple game instructions. Funbrain.com: My 1st and 2nd grader both like the word games here very much. (Um.....so did I.) There is even a game that teaches the sign language alphabet. Scholastic.com: Word games based on popular books like Clifford, The Magic School Bus, Maya and Miguel and more. Very easy site to navigate with fun interactive games. Have your older children try "Synonym Toast", a challenging game that makes you think fast about what words have similar meanings.
