How to Make Caramel Apples

Learn how to make caramel apples the old fashioned way. --At least the way I used to when I was a kid. This old way is still the best way in my book. Plus it's easy, fast and inexpensive. dozens of caramel apples

These delicious candied apples are a favorite in our house and never taste better than when you make them yourself. My kids love to make caramel apples as much as they love to eat them, so I always make them when they're at home and can help.

You will need:

  • 6 Granny Smith Apples (You can also use Gala or any firm, tart apple)
  • 6 Popsicle sticks - Craft sticks work fine in case they don't already come with the caramel.
  • 1 bag (14oz.) individual Kraft Caramels, unwrapped
  • 2 Tbsp. water
  • 1/2 tsp. Vanilla Extract
How to Put it all Together:

  1. Cover a cookie sheet with a sheet of waxed paper. You can used lightly greased foil but I think waxed paper works best.
  2. Wash and dry the apples, then poke a stick into the stem end of each one.
  3. In a saucepan, mix the caramels and water. Melt over low heat stirring often to prevent bubbling. Melt until smooth.
  4. Stir in Vanilla Extract.
  5. One at a time, dip each apple into the caramel. Let the excess drip back into the pan. Scrape extra off the bottom with a knife then place on the cookie sheet.
  6. Chill for at least 20 minutes before serving.

Make Caramel Apples Even Yummier
