Easy Oatmeal Play Dough Recipe

This is the easiest and cheapest play dough recipe I've ever made for my kids. Once you do it once you won't even need the recipe to do it again because it's so simple to remember. oatmeal Whatever unit of measure you use equals 1 part.

Ingredients:

  • 2 parts Oatmeal
  • 1 part Flour
  • 1 part Water

Combine all the ingredients and knead until soft.

This dough is really nice because it smells good and it's fast and easy to make. You can store in plastic bags for a day or two.

Cooked Play Dough

Here is another very nice recipe for play dough. This one is cooked and costs a little more because you use cream of tartar, but it does produce a very nice smooth dough. It also keeps for about two weeks if you seal it in plastic.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup Flour
  • 1 cup Water
  • 1/2 cup Salt
  • 1/2 tsp. Cream of Tartar
  • 1 tsp. Vegetable Oil
  • Food Coloring or A packet of ™Kool-Aid drink mix

To add color, dissolve the food coloring, or the drink mix in the water before adding it to all the other ingredients.

Mix all the ingredients together in a sauce pan and stir over medium heat until everything sticks together. Be careful not to have it stick to the bottom of the pan. Keep mixing.

Once it's combined remove from the heat.

When it's cool enough to touch it can be kneaded on a hard surface with a little flour to make it ready for little hands.
