DIY Scrapbooking Beginner Kit

We were recently inspired to put together a Scrapbooking Beginner Kit when my daughter started gathering a bunch of pictures from a trip we took to Disney World in 2006 and asked if she could have them. She wanted to create some scrapbooking pages, and put them in a three ring binder.

We put together a kit for her using things we already had on hand, so that she could experiment with scrapbooking without spending a ton of money on expensive scrapbooking supplies. (At least not yet.)

If your kids are into arts and crafts you may have a few, if not all of these things handy.

Tape
Crazy Scissors (The kind that cut in designs like pinking shears)
Colored Pencils

Rubber Stamps
Ruler
Stencils
Die Cut Letters, Shapes, and Numbers

Glue Sticks

Construction or Colored Papers

A three ring binder, or an inexpensive "scrap" or "memory" book.

A variety of pictures or any other momentos that your kids might want to put in a Memory Book

These things are enough to get your kids started making simple scrapbooking pages using their imaginations to mount and display their pictures using die cuts, stenciled images, and paper cut outs.

In addition you can use:

Wrapping paper from special gifts
Images of favorite toys cut from the packaging
Ticket stubs

Fabric Swatches

Newspaper articles or Magazine cut outs
Programs, Menus, or Napkins from a memorable event

Anything your kids can think of that they want to put in a scrapbook is very doable with a little imagination and this Do-It-Yourself Scrapbooking Beginner Kit.

Although most serious scrapbookers use archival and acid free papers and supplies, it can quickly get quite pricey, so this is a great alternative for beginning scrapbookers.

As far as preservation goes; my sister and I made scrapbooks back when were kids using regular tape, glue and things listed here. Those books still look fine with the pictures still intact. And those books are um......let's just say two or three decades old...give or take. :-)

This Scrapbooking Beginner Kit is great for adults too.
